U.S. President Donald Trump’s therapists said Saturday that he is in good condition, no longer suffering from fever or difficulty breathing, and that there appear to be no other serious effects after being infected with the Coronavirus.
“This morning, the president is in very good shape,” White House doctor Dr. Sean Conley said in a press release.
“The first week of (contracting) coronavirus, especially days 7 to 10, is most important in determining the likely course of the disease,” Conley said.
“At this time, the team and I are very pleased with the progress made by the president,” he said, noting that Trump was “suffering from a mild cough, some nasal congestion, and fatigue, all of which are improving.”
Conley said Trump had not suffered from fever for 24 hours and had a normal oxygen level.
Conley denied putting Trump on respirators after being taken to hospital. He said his blood saturation level was 96, indicating that he was getting enough oxygen.
Conley noted that Trump was suffering from a “mild cough.” He suffers from fever,” and that “more than anything (it) feels exhausted.”
When asked about Trump’s vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure and temperature, his doctor said, “His heart rate is in the ’70s and ’80s. His blood pressure remained in place, where it was historically during our physical examinations, you know, (when he’s between) 110 to 120 (he is) wonderful. He never budged. I had no worries.”
Trump’s doctor said he received a single dose of monoclonal antibody cocktail from Reigeron and started a 5-day course of the antiviral drug Remdsifvir.
“Rimdsever works a little differently from antibodies, we glorify all aspects of his care.” Conley said the virus is being “attacked through a multifaceted approach.”
“We’re watching all of this, but right now, you don’t have to worry,” Conley said.
Conley did not say whether Trump was receiving anti-fever drugs, nor did he say how high his temperature was.
When asked why Trump was taken to Walter Reed Hospital, Conley replied, “Because he’s the president of the United States.”
After the press briefing, a source familiar with the president’s health told White House reporters: “The president’s vital signs over the past 24 hours have been very disturbing, and the next 48 hours will be crucial in terms of his care. We are not on a clear path to full recovery yet.”
This comes as another informed source said That Trump was awake and working this morning while at Walter Reed Military Hospital.
For his part, the President praised the staff at Walter Reed Medical Hospital, according to a tweet he wrote on his account, Saturday. He described the medical staff as “amazing”, noting that he was “fine” after being helped.
This is Trump’s second tweet since he was hospitalized.
